Name: Robin Ward
Instrument: Drums and backing Vocals
Gear used: Pearl DLX Pro and Roland TD6
Favourite
bands: Too many to mention
Originally had guitar lessons at school
but went onto drums at the age of 15.
Started
off playing Status Quo covers in a band
with fellow RIOT member Wayne and also
began writing with Wayne in those early
days.
Later
joined a three piece "Rush" type band
called Analysis with John Sykes, now
also with RIOT.
Moved to
London seeking fame and fortune but
returned to Yorkshire a year later when
asked to join MAI ROUGE with Wayne and
John Foottit. After one album, many high
profile gigs and an appearance on the
famous Tommy Vance Friday Rock Show went
on to form BIG GUNS with Wayne.
With a
major contribution to the writing, went
on to release the successful "On
Dangerous Ground" album through Zero
(EMI) corporation in Japan.
With the
decline in popularity of AOR, BIG GUNS
parted company and Robin went on to drum
with covers band MEN PERFORMING BADLY
and later became lead singer with
seventies tribute band GLAMTASTIC.
Returned
to drumming with the formation of RIOT
and also recently signed a deal for a
second album with BIG GUNS on the Sun
City label.
